MP's Mother Makes Strange Request After Election Win

Claire Mukhana, the mother of the newly sworn in Kabuchai MP Joseph Majimbo, made a request to her son following his win in the just concluded by-elections.

An elated Mukhana said she was certain their lives would change for the better following the win.

"I am extremely elated after my son clinched the Kabuchai MP's seat. All I ask of him is that he ferries me to Nairobi on a plane. I am happy because all my children participated in Majimbo's win," she told TV47.

Weighing in on the matter, the lawmaker's sister thanked God for the win, adding that she was certain her bother would serve the people of Kabucha with commitment and dedication.

"I is our prayer that God will lead him on until he one day becomes the president of the country," she stated.

Majimbo was sworn in on Tuesday, March 9, at the National Assembly in an exercise that was overseen by Speaker Justin Muturi.  

He won the seat on a Ford-Kenya ticket, trouncing seven other candidates in a by-election that took place on Thursday, March 4.

Majimbo garnered a total of 19,274 votes, while UDA's Evans Kaikai came in second with 6,445 votes. Amos Wekesa finished third on a Federal Party of Kenya ticket with 1,454 votes. Total votes cast were 29,798.

The seat fell vacant following the death of James Lusweti's death at the Nairobi Hospital on Friday morning, December 4, after a long illness.
