The Central Bank of Kenya indicated that the amount of money sent from Kenyans living abroad was Ksh333,533,200 in 2020.

The figure increased from Ksh301,408,800 in 2019. These figures point to the ability of Kenyans living abroad to improve the nation's development.

Last year, 535,348 Kenyans were living overseas in the United Kingdom and the USA, Statistica established. This number of Kenyans can provide a good number of votes for candidates in the upcoming general election.

The previous general election had 4,393 registered voters in the diaspora with only 2,844 votes counted as valid which the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) confirmed.

The office abroad and online registration assists the party in its campaign. On Thursday, June 10, the party declared that it would repair Gachie Road which is in Kiambaa Constituency. John Njugunah Wanjiku was put forward as the party's candidate for the by-election in that region.

Dennis Itumbi, UDA's digital strategist, asked the public for donations such as shovels, sand, graders, murram and  stones to repair the road

State authorities have on a number of occasions interrupted UDA meetings. In May, a meeting in Meru was brought to an end. Attendees of a meeting in Nyali on the Thursday, June 3, were ordered to leave.
