The Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC) has issued an update on the Madaraka Express Passenger Train schedule.

According to a notice dated Wednesday, August 11, the Madaraka express train, plying the Nairobi - Suswa route, will only operate on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

The Wednesday train between the two destinations will be halted until further notice.

The Nairobi - Suswa train will depart at 8:50am daily and travel back from Suswa to Nairobi at 4:15pm.

Kenya Railways affirmed that the changes would take effect from Wednesday, August 11.

This comes even as the corporation works on stabilising the system following a recent failure that affected online booking services for the Nairobi - Mombasa route.

This was after various travellers unsuccessfully attempted to book travel tickets between the two cities.

Kenya Railways released a statement stating that it had suffered a system failure and advised travellers to book their tickets by visiting its physical offices.

"We are experiencing a system failure. Our teams are working to restore it to normalcy. In the meantime, purchase tickets over the counter at the nearest Madaraka Express Terminus," read part of the statement.

"Thank you for choosing Madaraka Express as your preferred mode of travel."
