A 17-year-old boy was picked by police officers on Friday, August 13 following reports that he beat his father leading to his death.

The 2020 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) student was grilled over his father’s demise after eyewitnesses accused him of assaulting the deceased with a blunt rod.

According to a police report published by The Standard, Nandi Hills Police Officers heard that the boy attacked his father after a dispute ensued over his Form One admission.

It was reported that the 42-year-old was confronted by the son who wanted answers as to why he had failed to enroll him to a nearby Secondary School.

Witnesses claimed that the argument escalated and the boy reportedly hit his father on the head and left him lying unconscious.

The father incurred critical injuries in the head leading to his death.

Nandi East OCPD, David Nyabuto, stated the late was rushed to Meteitet Hospital by the neighbours where he received first aid and later transferred to Kapsabet County Hospital for further medical attention.

“On Wednesday morning, August 11, he was transferred to Kapsabet County Hospital, but he was reported dead on arrival," the OCPD told The Standard.

“Health officers noted that he had lost too much blood.”

The teenager was detained for further interrogation as police investigate the matter.
