The Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced 1,000 paid internships in the Information Technology department, in its programme targeting fresh graduates.

The interns will be trained under the Digital Literacy Programme (DLP) and will be deployed to various schools across the country.

"The Ministry of Education has declared 1,000 vacancies for internship under the DLP," PSC announced.

DLP was initiated in 2016 by President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee administration out of the conviction that technology has the power to bring about systemic change in basic and higher education by transforming teaching and learning through integrating technology in the curriculum.

The programme comes with strict requirements, with the Commission stating that applicants must have graduated not earlier than 2018 and must be holders of a Bachelor's degree in Education with specialisation in Information Communication Technology (ICT).

Applicants with Bachelors degree or diploma in ICT or ICT Integration in Education will also be considered for the opportunities.

The applicants should also be knowledgeable in networking and infrastructure, application development, information security and project management. This will be coupled with ability to integrate ICT in their daily assignments including e-Learning and content development.

Interns will be tasked with providing first line support and maintenance of ICT services in the schools, carrying out innovations to enable schools improve on use of digital learning and support implementation of the Digital Learning Programme.

Other tasks include support of e-Learning and content development in line with the schemes of work, providing class support and training of Primary School Teachers in the use of digital literacy devices, assisting teachers by integrating ICT in delivery of teaching, learning and assessment and providing support in safe, secure and ethical use of technology in learning.

How To Apply

The internship programme will run for one year with a stipend which will be determined by PSC.

Interested candidates are required to make their application via online through the PSC portal www(dot)publicservice(dot)go(dot)ke or www(dot)psckjobs(dot)go(dot)ke by or before August 9.

On successful completion of the internship programme, interns will be awarded a certificate by the State Department.
