General Muhoozi Kainerugaba has sparked uproar again after accusing a Kenyan journalist of convincing his father, President Yoweri Museveni, to ban him from Twitter.

On Tuesday, October 18, the army general alleged that the Kenyan journalist- who he did not name- had asked his father to bar him from accessing the social media site.

Museveni, a day before, disclosed that he discussed with his son the consequences of his online tirades and directed him to leave Twitter. He, however, did not clarify whether General Muhoozi was to deactivate his accounts or take a social media break

In response to the directive, the son called out the said journalist, insisting that he was an adult and could not be banned from using Twitter.

"I hear some journalist from Kenya asked my father to ban me from Twitter. Is that some kind of joke? I am an adult, and no one will ban me from anything!" he ranted.

His remarks came days after his father was interviewed by KTN News Sophia Wanuna.

In the interview, Museveni condemned his son for causing tension between Kenya and Uganda, noting that it was ill-advised for the general to threaten to capture Kenya

“If Muhoozi was tweeting on sports and things which are not controversial, that would not have been a problem. But to talk about other countries, or even Uganda's politics is what he should not do and won’t do,” Museveni, seemingly irked by his son's behaviour, lamented.

While speaking to a Ugandan TV station on October 17, a day after being interviewed on KTN News, Museveni further revealed that he restricted Muhoozi from tweeting.

"He's going to leave Twitter. We have had this discussion. Twitter is not a problem. The problem is what you tweet.

"Talking about other countries and Uganda's politics is something he should not do and will not do," he stated.

To that effect, Muhoozi's recent attack on the Kenyan journalist did not sit well with online users, who wondered why he was still making controversial statements despite being banned from Twitter.

"I like it that you understand personal liability, the custom that a father should be responsible for the acts of the child is unconstitutional," one tweep wondered.

"The fact that President William came to your land and never commented about your jokes of taking Nairobi doesn't mean he was happy," another comment read.
