The family of the late veterinary surgeon Raphael Nyamwaya has demanded the police to speed up investigations into his sudden death.

Speaking to the press on Saturday, October 29, Nyamwaya's wife, Brenda Kwamboka, noted that her husband's body was found in the house of boda boda rider he had left with from his house in the Ngong area.

Kwamboka noted that on Mashujaa Day, her husband left the house in the company of the boda boda rider headed to Ngong Police Station to record a statement over his lost phone.

An hour later, she called him up to confirm if the report had been made.

"It was quite unfortunate. I did not expect to receive bad news. It came to me as a shock. He was well when he left in the morning and an hour later I called him, and we spoke.

"He told me that he has reported to the police about his lost phone and he was coming back home. I waited but he did not come," he told the press.

Nyamwaya, however, never showed up prompting further calls from his wife. She reported that his phone continuously rang but it was picked up by the boda boda rider.

"When I tried calling my husband's phone number, the call went through but it is the boda boda who picked up. He could tell me he was not with him but he had his Simcard and was bringing it home. He switched the phone off," she added.

Her statement was corroborated by locals who reported that Nyamwaya arrived at the boda boda's single room house in the company of two other people.

His body was later found dead in the house with the duo nowhere to be seen.

"I was cleaning clothes and I saw two men on the motorbike carrying someone. He looked (pathetic). He was too weak," explained Lydiah Mathew, a neighbour.

Nyamwaya had just completed his internship and was formally expected to start his job as a veterinary surgeon.

The Union of Veterinary Practitioners of Kenya (UVPK), on Saturday, demanded speedy investigations by the police into the puzzling murder.

"What is shocking to us, and the reason why we are here today, is the slow pace of action by the police here a week after the matter was reported despite important information relating to the circumstances of the murder and details of the suspects having been volunteered by the locals," demanded UVPK Chairperson Benson Kibore.
