Rita Oyier, the current Chief of Staff in the office of Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru is a seasoned communication expert with a career spanning 15 years.
In 2017, Oyier worked in the Presidential Secretariat Campaigns for former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in his 4th stab at the presidency.
Later in 2022, Oyier switched to President William Ruto, communication team before being poached by another presidential aspirant Jimi Wanjigi of the Safina party.
While on Ruto's side, Oyier was involved in forming the famous Women For Ruto initiative that advocated for empowering women into leadership.
Notably, during the campaign period in the run up to the August 9 elections, Oyier was on the frontline advocating for peace.
"Remember that all these presidential candidates are looking for jobs. Go about your business as usual and do not disrupt peace because of the outcome," she stated in an earlier interview.
She holds a degree in Biomedical Science from Maseno University where she graduated in 2006. Oyier proceeded to Stanford University in 2012 to pursue a career in Stanford Advanced Project Management, Strategic Execution.
She also founded 'A Tree In Every Home' in 2015, a volunteer establishment that aims to protect the environment by planting trees.
Additionally, in 2017, she founded Heri Online, a platform for delivering food and hygiene products to women in Kenya.
"I have also worked on a collaboration campaign with multiple organizations like African Women In Leadership and select women leaders to run successful nonpartisan campaigns towards having a Woman Running mate in the 2022 Presidential Election in a bid to push closer to the two-third gender principle," she stated.
The communication expert was 2018 named the Standard Chartered Women in Tech Kenya while in 2014, she was named the Facebook Personality of the Year.
Oyier was part of Kenya's powered delegation to the COP27 in Egypt, led by President Ruto. In photos from the summit seen by Kenyans.co.ke, she was seen seated between State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed and Deputy Chief of Staff Josphat Nanok.
