A family in Kirinyaga East sub-county was in utter shock after receiving the sad news of the death of their kin hours after his arrest.
According to the family members, the man was handed to the police to learn a lesson after confronting his mother, demanding his share of the family land.
Additionally, the man was accused of attacking and assaulting his mother on Sunday, November 6, after she refused to comply with his demands.
His mother was rescued by her other sons, who tied the deceased with ropes and dragged him to the local police station.
"We took him to the police station, but only one police officer was at the post. He told me to come back the following day to record a statement," the deceased's father narrated.
Police alleged that the man was taken to the Kiranyaga Sub-county hospital after allegedly stating he felt unwell, moments before he passed away.
Following the unfortunate incident, the family lamented that neighbours accused them of plotting the death of the 41-year-old.
"Neighbors are not planning to join the burial preparations saying that we orchestrated his death for beating our mother, which is not true," the father of the deceased complained.
Furthermore, the family called for immediate action to be taken and the deceased's death disclosed.
His body was transferred to the Kibugi Funeral Home pending a post-mortem.
The man's death came days after a man collapsed and died minutes after ordering food at a restaurant in Mombasa.
Reports alleged that the deceased walked in alone and ordered food from the menu but passed away minutes before enjoying his meal.
