The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) on Thursday, December 29, warned persons applying for vacant positions advertised against falling prey to fraudsters targeting unsuspecting applicants.

In a statement seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the teachers' employer reiterated that the process of application was free of charge contrary to some reports of persons soliciting for payment.

Further, the commission red-listed an email address purported to be transacting business on behalf of the recruitment process.

"Do not be conned! Recruitment is free," the statement read.

"Our email address is info(at) tsc(dot) go (dot) ke and not info(at) tsc (dot) gmail (dot)com."

TSC announced the recruitment of 35,000 teachers to suffice the vacancies in the number of teachers required to implement the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

In addition, the commission offered 21,550 internship slots for teachers to be posted in Junior Secondary Schools.

"In the meantime, 30,550 new teacher recruits (9,000 on permanent and pensionable terms and 21,550 teacher interns) will be posted to handle the Junior Secondary School before the beginning of term 2023," a statement from the TSC read.

The commission dedicated its official website (info(at) tsc(dot) go (dot) ke) for interested applicants to submit their applications under the careers tab.

According to TSC, the recruited teachers would commence operations in January, 2023 when schools are projected to open for the new year.

The deadline for the applications underwent review after the commission handed the interested party a leeway following complaints from candidates who were locked out.

Notably, the recruitment was part of President William Ruto's pledge to upscale the number of teachers in his tenure.
