On Thursday, January 5, Cabinet Secretaries arrived at the Fairmont Mt. Kenya Safari Club in Laikipia County for a four-day retreat to formulate the strategies needed to fulfil the government's campaign pledges.
Hosted by President William Ruto, the meeting brought together all senior Executive members, including Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, advisors and principal secretaries.
Aside from the meeting, what also attracted the attention of the majority of Kenyans was the lavish resort in which the CSs resided.
The resort, located in Nanyuki, is ideal for its magnificent view of Mount Kenya. Located over a 100-acre piece of land, the resort boasts landscaped gardens and offers a unique blend of adventure, comfort and relaxation.
The structure reflects the 1950s colonial architectural design with a country club feel complemented with quaint independent cottages, including the coveted William Holden's original cottage.
The cottage was built in honour of the late William Holden, an American actor who conducted multiple charitable projects in Nanyuki.
The guest rooms include a Fairmont room and a Deluxe View room.
The Fairmont room is complemented with a plush king-sized bed and furnished with a 32-inch Plasma screen, a dressing table, and built-in wardrobes.
The Deluxe View room, on the other hand, offers breathtaking views of Mt Kenya. The room is spacious, luxuriously furnished with a sitting area, and features a cosy fireplace.
"The rooms, suites and cottages reflect the original charm of the residence complete with modern-day amenities. An array of exciting outdoor activities include golfing on the Equator, horse riding in the forest, animal orphanage visit, an amazing slopes breakfast and bush," reads part of the resort's official site.
Some of the services in the resort include babysitting, concierge, high-speed internet, laundry services, currency exchange, gift shop, medical services, room services and spa services.
The resort's rate is reportedly Ksh28,911 per person per night. The charges are, however, dependent on the season and the type of room that the guest books. The charges go as high as Ksh195,417 for a Sendeo Villa.
