The famous choir that entertained Kenyans during the tallying of the August 9 poll results at the Bomas of Kenya made a comeback on Kenyan screens on Monday, January 16 to give the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati a special send-off.

Exactly five months after keeping Kenyans motivated and reminded of their patriotic duty, the choir made a comeback in the last event that Wafula Chebukati will grace as the IEBC chairperson.

The choir gained popularity when it sang through tense moments at Bomas Kenya, when announcing the results of the August 9 presidential election.

Regarded as the "Singing heroes at Bomas" on August 15, 2022, when news broke out that UDA’s presidential candidate William Ruto had won the presidential elections.

Donning black attires with some elements of red, the choir belted out patriotic songs as they kept stakeholders attending the launch of the audit of August 9, 2022, General elections by the IEBC at Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi entertained.

The report will be Chebukati’s last official act as IEBC chairman having held that position for the constitutionally mandated 6 years.

On September 15, 2022, Chebukati thanked the choir for their service while at Bomas.

“I thank the various choirs and artists that presented spiritually uplifting and patriotic songs that underscored the need to maintain peace and unity even in the electioneering period,” the Chairman stated back then.

The choir in subsequent interviews announced that they had been filled with Holy Spirit that day to entertain Kenya in what was an otherwise tense moment.

“The Holy Spirit came in droves and filled us making us able to perform our job with zeal,” Mwindu Kariuki of Safari Voices International that sang in Bomas told Citizen Digital in a past interview.

"We started singing at 10.00 am until almost 6.00 pm in the evening, without food or water, but we were serving our country.

“Our nation was shaken and it's music that brought serenity to that house,” the choir during the interview revealed where they got inspiration.
