Kenya Power announced that 27 estates in Nairobi would experience power interruption following a maintenance routine scheduled for Sunday, March 12.
In a notice, the utility firm indicated that some of the areas earmarked for maintenance would suffer power outages for six hours while others would experience the interruption for eight hours.
Some of the estates to experience an eight-hour blackout include areas around Kabanas, Airport road and Mombasa road such as Alpha Centre, Ramotons, Steel Makers, Manchester Outfitters, REA, Nice and Lovely, Prime Cartons, Ocean Group, Kenbro, Saj Ceramics, Patmos, Laneeb Plastics, Chemical and Solvent, Nyoro Construction, Kenbelt, KenGen Godowns, Label Converters and adjacent customers.
The maintenance would commence at 9 am and end at 5:00 pm.
In addition, Kenya Power announced that part of Babadogo including Kenafric Village, Babadogo Laundry Village, Kenafric Rubber Factory, PZ Cussions, Sairaj, Roy Transmotors, Kenafric Business Park, Riverside Est, LG Harris, Unicorn and its environs would experience the outage for eight hours.
KPLC announced that parts of Nandi County would experience a five-hour outage from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
These areas include Kapsabet Showgrounds, GK Prisons, Huduma Center, KCB Building, Barclays Bank, Barng'etuny Plaza and Tiryo Plaza.
On the other hand, Nyamira County would also experience a six-hour power outage in areas such as Gesima, Mochenwa, Nyamakoroto, Riamanoti, Matunwa Tea, Royal Media, Enchoro and Mosombeti from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Following the statement, a section of Kenyans also lamented that some parts of the country still lacked power for hours without prior notice.
"Once more, there is no electricity in Tuala. It is incredibly frustrating and exasperating to deal with these persistent power outages. It is unacceptable that we continue to experience these interruptions in our daily lives. We deserve better," a user commented.
In response, Kenya Power affirmed that the area's main line was off due to a fault.
Kenyans in Ongata Rongai, Ngara, Mwingi, Pipeline (Embakasi) and Wangige also lamented of a power outage.
