Jubilee Party Deputy Organising Secretary, Pauline Njoroge has reportedly been arrested by police while visiting Mombasa County.

Azimio La Umoja, on Saturday, July 22, claimed that Njoroge was apprehended in the company of her friends, and her whereabouts are unknown.

Kenyans.co.ke efforts to reach Jubilee party officials and Njoroge for a comment were futile as they failed to respond to texts and calls.

"Pauline Njoroge arrested by Watamu DCI officers," lawyer Ndegwa Njiru who has been representing Azimio politicians in court, claimed.

Reports alleged that police are interrogating her over several tweets she posted on her social media pages.

Njoroge had shared snippets from her Mombasa tour hours before the arrest.

Njoroge, a fierce critic of the Kenya Kwanza government has consistently poked holes into President William Ruto's leadership including sharing insider information with her followers across her social media platforms.

The Jubilee official joined the list of individuals recently arrested by the police. Others include Embakasi East Member of Parliament Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino who was charged with subversion.

Babu was arrested alongside other Azimio affiliated leaders and officials days before the Azimio coalition staged three-day demonstrations for the very first time.

The MP was released on Friday, July 21, on a Ksh100,000 cash bail and an alternative of Ksh200,000 bond.

Azimio politicians accused the government of using the police to arrest them without any warrant. Some complained that plain-clothed officers were trailing them with the intention of arresting them.

On Saturday, July 22, Members of County Assemblies (MCAs) allied to Azimio complained that police officers were posing as newspaper vendors before arresting them.

"Nairobi City County MCAs aligned to the Azimio have been the biggest victims of the hunt by security-forces-turned-thugs who now roam the streets of Nairobi posing as journalists, newspaper vendors, photographers, or hawkers just so that they can kidnap and torture MCAs," read part of their statement.
