Veteran Nation Media Group and Standard Media Group editor, Cyrus Mwelwa has died.
Mwelwa was a sub editor for NMG for eight years before becoming Standard's editor for one year and eight months.
His passing was confirmed by MCSK CEO Ezekiel Mutua who took to his X, formerly Twitter, page to express his condolences to the media personality’s family.
"I have learned with profound shock of the death of a dear friend and long-time colleague Cyrus Mwelwa, formerly of the Nation Media Group and later the Standard Group. May God give peace and comfort to the family and may his soul find eternal repose," Mutua wrote.
Mwelwa worked with Nation from January 1995 to March 2003 and later with Standard from October 2003 to May 2005.
Afterwards, he joined East African Portland Cement where he was the head of public relations for 3 years.
Since then, he has held various positions and worked for several organizations including Kenya Literature Bureau (KLB), AIG, Ecosafe Ltd, and Africa Leadership Institute, with his most recent posting being Organic Health Media where he was the CEO.
Mwelwa held a Bachelor's Degree in Communication and Journalism from Moi University.
He also held an MBA in Strategic Management from Kenyatta University.
