Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is set to depart the country for a three-day visit to Belgium where he is expected to hold bilateral talks and participate in various engagements.
Top of Gachagua's agenda will be representing William Ruto in the planned Gateway Global Forum event hosted by the European Commission in Brussels, the Belgian capital on October 25.
''The Forum aims to strengthen relations between the European Union (EU) and its partners, including Kenya, in key sectors such as digital innovation, green energy, transport, healthcare, and education,'' a statement released by Gachagua's office read.
The two-day forum will bring together over 40 high-level government representatives from the EU and its partner countries, financial institutions, the private sector, civil societies, and international organisations.
Issues to be discussed at the forum include; global investment in infrastructure and the challenges faced by the public and private sectors and solutions for the same.
Gachagua will also use the tour to market Kenya's agricultural produce in line with his recent reforms looking to streamline the tea and coffee sectors.
The Deputy President will also hold sideline talks with European Commission Ursula von der Leyen during the forum.
Gachagua will also meet Kenyan citizens living in Belgium at the Tangla Hotel in Brussels.
''The Deputy President will extend his travel to Germany for other engagements on Coffee, Climate Change, Renewable Energy, among others,'' the statement further read.
Gachagua will meet the Kenyan Diaspora in Germany at the Bayerischer Hof Hotel in Munich.
This comes after Gachagua on October 22 revealed that the Kenyan government is working on a deal with American coffee chain Starbucks through the US Ambassador to Kenya that will allow the multinational to buy coffee directly from Kenyan farmers.
Gachagua, since assuming office as Deputy President has initiated a raft of reforms in the agriculture sector, geared at cleaning house and ridding it of cartels.
