Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), on Thursday, announced a temporary closure of a section of Langata Road near Nyayo Stadium.

The closure will affect the Nyayo Stadium bound lane, between the T-Mall Roundabout near the T-Mall flyover and Madaraka Roundabout.

In a statement, KeNHA announced the closure will happen between Saturday, February 24 and Sunday, February 25 from 6 am to 8 pm.

The closure is to accord the contractor adequate time for the planned maintenance works along the section of the road.

Motorists from Raila Odinga Way, Mai Mahiu Road and Lang’ata Road heading towards Madaraka Roundabout were advised to use the Ole Sangale Link Road.

“Alternatively, they can turn at T-Mall Roundabout and proceed to the U-turn just after Wilson Airport exit and take the Flyover towards Madaraka,” KeNHA stated.

Marshals and police will, moreover, be deployed to facilitate the smooth flow of traffic

The Authority, however, urged motorists to adhere to the alternative traffic routes to allow adequate time for the maintenance works.

KeNHA's closure of Lang'ata Road comes a fortnight after the Authority announced temporary traffic disruption along both carriageways of Mombasa Road between Ole-Sereni and Athi River Interchange.

The disruptions were attributed to the ongoing road maintenance works on the road with KeNHA urging motorists to accord the contractor adequate time to complete the project.

“Follow the traffic signs and guidance in place as shall be directed by Traffic Marshals and Police on-site,” stated the Authority.

However, KeNHA did not state the duration of the road maintenance.
