There's nothing that Philip Kamau couldn't do in the name of love. He believed that as a man's role to provide, he had to ensure his wife and child lived a comfortable lifestyle, even at his expense.

Speaking to Itugi TV, Kamau narrated how his life turned tragic after tying the knot, culminating in him serving time in Nyahururu GK prison.

Kamau envisioned himself as a lucky man when he got to marry his high school sweetheart. He noted that he waited for her to complete school and they wedded after two years.

Despite coming from a humble background, the businessman explained that he tried to give his family a good life. In his career, after several failed attempts to get employment, he received an opportunity to work at a supermarket.

"The first year of marriage, we enjoyed a season of bliss. Later, I quit the job that I had and was employed at a local supermarket. I worked hard till I became the supervisor. The boss was so pleased with my work that I was upgraded to work as a driver," he noted.

Notwithstanding, Kamau began experiencing turmoil in his marriage following the birth of his son. He noted that as the sole breadwinner, he worked tirelessly to make ends meet.

"One day after arriving home from work, my son was so delighted to see me. He then revealed that he had seen another man with mum."

"I confronted my wife who disputed the rumours. My son maintained that he saw another man with mum."

This birthed a series of confrontations and arguments that occasionally turned physical, resulting in the wife packing her belongings and returning home.

To bring her back, Kamau noted that he approached his wife's family and promised not to lay a finger on her over any issue.

"So, from then on, she became very hostile and would dare me to do something that could give her a reason to go home," he noted.

Kamau narrated that his wife would draw comparisons with other women and wondered why others lived a better lifestyle while they kept struggling.

He admitted that the pressure piled on him and due to the fear of his wife filing for divorce, he resorted to doing the unthinkable.

"I approached my boss and asked if I could borrow some cash from him, but he declined. At the time, he had entrusted me with his phone most of the time and I knew his passwords. I decided to withdraw Ksh15,000 from his mobile money and sent it to my phone," he narrated.

From the amount, Kamau settled the debt he had and gave the rest to his wife.

Thinking that the troubles would end, he pointed out that the conflicts were prolonged. Further, the situation worsened after his boss filed a report over the missing cash at a police station and he was arrested.

After several court proceedings, Kamau received a two-year sentence at Nyahururu Prison for the crime, with the judge noting that it should serve as a lesson to other offenders.
