Parents with children at the Karuturi High School in Naivasha, Nakuru County have been left in limbo after the school was closed indefinitely.

While speaking to the press on Tuesday, the parents revealed that the school had been bought by a private investor who acquired both the institution and the flower farm which was previously managing the learning facility.

The school had been operating for eight years.

"We want to know our fate, how will our children learn if schools keep being closed abruptly? It is the middle of the academic year, where are we enrolling our children," one parent complained to the press.

The purchase resulted in the closure of the learning facility about two weeks before students resumed school for the second term.

Parents complained that this is the second school to be shut down in three months leaving them in a state of confusion as to where to enroll their children.

"This is interfering with the students who are forced to change environment often. It is also disrupting the concentration of students," one of the parents lamented.

Additionally, they noted that with the new curriculum, it was more difficult to transfer children from one school to another, especially in the middle of the academic year.

Parents called upon the Ministry of Education to intervene and put in place measures to prevent schools from closing abruptly, especially within the academic year.

In the past few months, several schools have been closed indefinitely due to various reasons including; tough economic times and financial struggles.

A private school in Nairobi was closed down at the beginning of the year citing the tough economy as the reason. The school which started in 1993, was run by elderly directors who decided to retire.

The government has been urged to prioritise ensuring all children get an education with a stable environment to facilitate proper learning.
