Ababu Namwamba Pledges to Support President Uhuru Kenyatta During Busia Tour

Budalangi Member of Parliament (MP) Ababu Namwamba on Friday pledged his support for President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.

Speaking during the President's tour in Busia, Mr Namwamba urged the locals to vote for the Jubilee administration in the upcoming 2017 General Election.

"My decision to work with Jubilee is all about mature politics that will deliver meaningful development to our community. That is the direction to go politically.

"We want to play mature politics. I am here to receive the president because despite being in the opposition, there is a difference between a political rival and an enemy. We as leaders from Busia are ready to work with those who are development-oriented," Namwamba said.

The Labour Party leader has been warming up to Jubilee since he unceremoniously resigned as ODM Secretary General but has never declared his stand.

ODM's Director of Communication Phillip Etale criticised Namwamba after his public declaration stating: "That is your decision. You join the other few leaders from the land of Mulembe who have without thinking decided to support Jubilee."

In October, Namwamba was met by a rowdy crowd during his visit to Mombasa where he mistakenly stated that he was in Jubilee Party.

While addressing congregants at Glory Worship Centre he remarked "we in Jubilee" then quickly corrected the statement saying "we in Labour Party".

However, he was not forgiven as fast as he wished as a group of youth heckled him tagging him a Jubilee mole
