President Uhuru Kenyatta has been accused of treating Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula with contempt when he visited his County on Thursday.
Mr Kenyatta, who was in the County for the first Graduation of Kibabii University, is alleged to have denied Wetangula a chance to address the crowds.
The accusations were made by Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale who criticised President Kenyatta for treating the Luhya community as nobodies.
“Wetangula has today in Bungoma been denied addressing a presidential function. Uhuru Kenyatta stop treating Baluhyia leaders with raw contempt,” Khalwale said.
During the graduation, Mr Kenyatta, who is the chancellor of Kibabii, urged the students to guard against becoming tribal enclaves or reducing themselves to mere sources of employment instead of the important role they have in society.
The President also warned universities against issuing degrees for money especially to politicians who want to beat the law, adding that any university found issuing degrees in an unscrupulous manner will be dealt with accordingly.
The Head of State allocated a whopping Sh300 Million to improve the university’s teaching facilities.
