The Labour Relations court on Wednesday ordered medical union officials to appear before the court on Tuesday following the ongoing strike which has paralysed medical operations across the country.
According to the court, the mass demonstration was illegal as the medics had earlier been instructed not to strike but allow for dialogue.
Presiding over the case, Judge Helen Wasilwa stated that failure by the union officials to honour the court summon will prompt the issuance of an arrest warrant.
She directed Kilimani OCS to serve officials of Nurses and Doctors' Union with a court order issued last week that had suspended the ongoing strike.
The court had on Friday ruled against the mass action which has entered day 3 and called for dialogue among key stakeholders including Health Minister Cleopa Mailu and the Council of Governors.
At the same time, President Uhuru Kenyatta asked the striking doctors and nurses to resume work and give dialogue a chance. Speaking at Makindu Hospital during his tour in Ukambani, Kenyatta indicated that the only way an amicable solution could be reached was by the health workers first resuming work as consultations continue.
Health workers downed their tools on Monday in a bid to push the government to implement a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) they signed in June 2013.
