Court Orders Arrest of KDF Officer

A military officer identified as Colonel Leonard Morimba Makunga could soon be thrown behind bars after a Children's court ruled against him.

In 2013, Colonel Makunga was taken to court by the mother of his two children, known as Makena, for neglecting his family and failing to send upkeep money of more than Sh312,200

Senior Resident Magistrate Derik Kuto earlier in the week stated that, “Unless Makunga pays Makena the sum of Sh312,200 as noted in the margin, together with the executing officer’s expenses fees, the respondent will be arrested".

According to the court application, Makunga had persuaded Makena to have children with him after revealing that he was unable to sire any children with his first wife whom they had been married for over 20 years.

Makena told the court that when she conceived the first child, the military officer was elated and rented her a house in Rongai.

However, when she got the second child, the soldier left for the United Kingdom but continued paying the rent and depositing Sh100,000 for upkeep.

She revealed that later on Makunga stopped sending the money and was now trying to deny paternity of the two children.
