Education CS Fred Matiang'i Issues Politicians with a Strong Warning

Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has issued a strong warning to politicians who have politicised the crackdown on fake academic papers, warning them that he is prepared to pay the price to ensure Kenya's education system is sanitised.

The Education CS blamed politicians for weakening Kenya's strong education system with their crooked methods to possess the papers only to get into office to enrich themselves.

He added that the fake academic papers were to blame for what he termed as fake leaders.

Matiang'i explained that the Government was merely implimenting the law that required those seeking the presidency or governorship to have degrees from recognised universities.

"There's no politics here; you either have a degree or you don't. God, the devil and yourselves know whether you have a genuine degree or not," he chastised.

He maintained that the Government's efforts to crackdown on fake academic papers and institute educational reforms were undeterred and the forging of academic papers would not be tolerated.

"There's no turning back. We have no choice but to inculcate the culture of integrity in our education system for the sake of our country and our future generations," Matiang'i reiterated.

The Cabinet Secretary was speaking at a Prize Giving Day in Thika where he announced that the Government had allocated Sh6 Billion to the development of infrastructure in secondary schools countrywide to ensure a one hundred percent transition rate of pupils to secondary school.
