Here is what the Government Allocated to Security Departments

The security sector was among the biggest beneficiaries of the 2015/2016 Budget a moved aimed at building up on the security measures in the Country.

National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich announced an allocation of Sh223.9 billion to the security sector in the 2015/2016 financial year.



The mass allocation to the security sector marks a Sh27 billion increase from the previous allocation, Capital reports.

While unveiling the budget CS Rotich announced that Sh112 billion will be channeled to the Ministry of Defence while the National Intelligence Service will receive Sh26 billion.

The Interior Ministry will be allocated a massive Sh102.4 billion in a bid to build on the security measures already in place which include enhancing mobility and modernising the service.

Despite persistent calls on the government to withdraw its troops from Somalia, the Kenya Defence Force in Somalia through AMISOM was allocated Ksh 6.4 billion for their continued stay in the war zone area.

To enhance police mobility the CS allocated Sh7.7 billion to leasing of police vehicles, Sh15 billion for military modernisation, Sh10 billion for police service modernisation and Sh1.7 billion for police medical scheme.

Sh4.4 billion was also allocated to the fight against poaching which the government has blamed for funding terror activities.
