A Nairobi Member of County Assembly (MCA) affiliated to the National Super Alliance (NASA) was today arraigned in court for allegedly killing a bodyguard.
Huruma Ward Representative Peter Owera Oluoch alongside five other individuals appeared in court to answer to charges of killing the bodyguard, Dan Omollo, attached to one of the aspirants in the area.
The six, however, did not plead to any criminal charges after the defence asked the court for more time to reply to a miscellaneous application filed by the prosecution.
The prosecution pleaded with the court to remand the accused for 14 days to enable police officers conclude investigations into the killing.
The bodyguard was killed on Sunday after chaos erupted at a meeting organised by the MCA in Huruma, Starehe Division.
It is alleged that in the 20-minute stand-off between the warring groups, the bodyguard, Omollo, was stabbed to death while others were injured in the ensuing chaos.
According to Nairobi Police Boss Japheth Koome, the meeting had not been sanctioned by the police.
The application will be heard tomorrow, Wednesday 29th March 2017.
