KDF Drops in Military Ranking

Kenya’s military strength has declined drastically in global ranking after the deadly attack on its base at El Adde in Gedo, Somalia.

According to the Global Firepower Military (GFM), an online outlet that provides analytical display of data concerning today’s world military powers, Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) is placed at position 68 globally.

This is a thunderous drop considering that KDF came at position 46 among most powerful militaries in the world in 2013.

Also in the report, Kenya’s position in Africa has also deteriorated to position 8 from 6 trailing Tunisia, Morocco, Ethiopia, Nigeria, South Africa, Algeria and Egypt in that order.

Somalia's military is weakest in the world coming at position 30 in Africa and 126 globally according to the analytics tool.

The ranking by GFM is based on manpower, with a keen eye on active military personnel, defence budget, ground power including the number of tanks, armoured vehicles, and also the number of military aircrafts.

The 10 most powerful militaries in the world, according to GFM, are as follows:
