Kenya Wins First Medal After Marathon Humiliation

Kenya won its first medals in the 10,000m IAAF World Athletics Championship in Beijing after a poor perfomance in the marathon.

Geoffrey Kamworor won a silver medal followed by Paul Tanui who scooped the bronze.

Mo Fara, a British athlete won the gold medal in 54.15 seconds.

The second and third positions elevated the team's spirits, coming just a few hours after a poor start in the marathon where they failed to win a single medal.

The race was won by 19 year old Eritrean Ghirmay Ghebreslassie while Ethiopian Yemane Tsegay was second.

Kenya has consistently been dominant in long distance races, winning the top positions in numerous occassions.
