Kenya’s Trending Topics On The 4th of April 2016

Here are the day’s trending topics:

Hassan Joho

Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has been trending on Twitter after an ODM rally in Migori was prematurely ended by chaos in yesterday.

It is alleged that supporters allied to Migori Governor Okoth Obado clashed with supporters who were attending a meeting led by Joho and a high delegation of ODM leaders who were hosted by area MP Junet Mohammed.

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho's bodyguard was shot during the incident.

 #NASAParallelTallying

This hashtag has been the top trend today after NASA co-principals announced that they will run a parallel tallying centre to that of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC)

NASA argued that the process is meant to prevent vote rigging and to ensure that the tallied votes at the polling centres will be those declared by IEBC.

It has however been rejected by IEBC and the ruling Jubilee party.

#ViciousSacco

This hashtag has been trending after a Kenya Television Network (KTN) expose on a sacco run by Bishop David Ngari Gakuyo that has allegedly defrauded over 6,000 followers in a sham scheme.

It is alleged that Gakuyo promised a year ago to construct houses for low income earners investing in a sacco society called Ekeza and a sister company Gakuyo Real Estate but no houses were ever built.

#RailaPlanningChaos

This hashtag has also surged over allegations that Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga is planning chaos over the August polls.

The allegations stem from unsubstantiated speculations that Raila might not accept any outcome other than a win in the coming polls over issues of vote rigging, transparency and integrity of the process.
