A 23-year-old man hanged himself at his home village in Marakwet West after failing to raise funds required to settle his new born's hospital bill.
The man whose wife gave birth to a premature baby at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret, took his life after he was unable to foot Sh12,000 bill owed to the hospital.
The new born was admitted at the MTRH nursery for proper health care causing the invoice to rise to that amount.
Marakwet West OCPD Mathews Mangira confirmed the occurrence saying that the deceased had earlier tried to commit suicide by ingesting poison, but his relatives found him and took him to hospital.
The police boss said that the man's body was found hanging on a tree by villagers and was taken to AIC Kapsowar Mission hospital mortuary.
