Mohammed Ali Accuses Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho of Blocking His Nyali Parliamentary Bid

Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has been caught up in a bitter fight with former KTN journalist Mohammed Ali regarding the Nyali Parliamentary seat.

Mohammed Ali who contested for the ODM ticket in the Nyali race has accused the Governor of frustrating his bid by blocking his attempts to be declared the winner of the disputed primaries.

Through his official Facebook account,  Ali accused Governor Joho of meddling with an appeal he launched to protest the outcome of the elections in which he lost to Said Abdalla.

"@AliHassanJoho has stamped his authority 2 make sure I'm not given ODM ticket. I will meet ur bro on 8th. I would rather win or lose with honour," he stated.

The journalist controversially lost to Abdalla who is said to be Joho's cousin but sought to have the results nullified over allegations of malpractices, an appeal which was granted by ODM National Elections Board.

In rejecting the outcome, Ali cited various electoral malpractices and alleged that votes had been rigged in favour of his opponent.

He sensationally claimed that the family of the county boss were determined to deny him the ODM ticket in favour of  Abdalla.

In its recommendations, the Board stated that the nomination exercise did not meet the threshold of free, fair and credible elections as envisaged in the party's constitution.

However, in new developments, Abdalla has moved to the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal seeking to obtain an order directing that he be declared as the duly nominated ODM candidate for Nyali constituency.
