A man from Nairobi County is alleged to have killed his own child, after a fight with his wife over food.
The man - Samuel Otieno - is said to have committed the crime on Wednesday evening at his home in Lunga Lunga slums, Industrial Area.
Reports indicate that the man went home drunk and picked a quarrel with his wife over the food she was serving him.
He allegedly threatened to kill her several times, prompting her to run way.
The woman left behind her two children - one aged eight years old, the other eight months.
On her return yesterday morning, she found the infant's sweater by the door and the child nowhere to be seen.
A search in the house ended in a horrible manner when she discovered the child's body under a heap of clothes.
Her screams attracted neighbors who then descended on her husband, beating him mercilessly.
Timely arrival by the police saved the suspect from certain death by the mob.
The body of the child was taken to city mortuary.
In the meantime, the suspect remains in custody while the police conduct investigations.
