The National Super Alliance (NASA) is set to hold a crisis meeting on Friday after leaked information revealed that the Opposition outfit had settled on a flag-bearer.
According to reports, NASA co-principals Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula are set to meet in Diani to deliberate on a report from its National Coordinating Committee (NCC).
Sources revealed that the Coast retreat by the co-principals was meant to consider modalities of power sharing and to put out any fires ahead of a planned three-day summit on the 17th, 18th and 19th of April.
NASA’s NCC co-chair, Senator James Orengo, stated that the principals had expressed satisfaction with the progress of the committee ahead of the summit.
“The principals expressed satisfaction with the work of the NCC and the technical committee,” said Orengo.
Orengo took issue with reports alleging that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga will fly the NASA flag with Mr Musyoka as his running mate.
It allegedly drew sharp reactions from a co-principal who is said to have called Mr Odinga in the morning to complain about leakage of sensitive information that could unsettle their supporters.
Orengo, however, reiterated that the co-ordinating committee gave an exhaustive progress report to the principals based on the studies and recommendations done by the technical committee.
He highlighted that whatever the principals will decide from the deliberations forwarded by the committee, will then be communicated as the final decision.
The senator's statement was backed by ODM chairman John Mbadi who reiterated that all possibilities must be exhausted to ensure no rifts emerge in NASA.
The principals will first separately engage with their respective parties before converging in Diani.
