Oburu Odinga and Jakoyo Midowo Rivarly Intensify Ahead of Party Nominations

The rivalry between Gem Member of Parliament  Jakoyo Midiwo and Nominated MP Oburu Odinga has intensified ahead on the Siaya Party primaries slated for Monday, April 24.

Dr Oburu, who is Mr Midiwo's cousin, has accused him of campaigning and supporting his political rival, incumbent Bondo MP Gideon Ochanda.

On Tuesday, the nominated MP launched a scathing attack on Midiwo accusing him of trying to be a kingmaker in Siaya County and trying to manipulate an opinion poll that showed that he did not have support in Bondo.

"We know what Midiwo is trying to do, but he should hold his horses because he will never get the chance to be one," he lamented

He further indicated that the Gem MP ought to remain calm and keep family affairs out of politics.

"I am the eldest in the family and have nothing against him. I have never stepped in his constituency to campaign against him and he should, therefore, mind his own business.

The rivalry between the two first surfaced in the 2013 General Election after Midiwo publicly campaigned for his rival William Oduol in the Siaya Gubernatorial race.

The two leaders have also been at loggerheads and differing over their support for the candidates for the Siaya Gubernatorial seat.

Mr Oburu has indicated that he was supporting incumbent Governor Cornel Rasanga while Mr Midiwo has been campaigning for Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo.
