Parliament Officer Tricked and Killed

A police detective attached to Parliament was shot dead on Monday after thugs, who posed as good samaritans, turned on him.

The officer was reportedly driving home when he got stuck in mud at Kiamumbi, Kiambu County, before some men approached his car and pretended to help push it out.

“We understand officer Matiri was on his way home from a construction site in Kahawa West when the gang struck. They pretended to help push his car but one of them produced a pistol and shot him,” said Kiambu County Police Commander James Mugera.

The officer confirmed that the culprits killed Mr Matiri and got away without stealing anything from the vehicle.

This was another attempt on the officer's life in which the gang accomplished their mission, after he was previously shot in the leg while working at Kilimani Police station years ago.

According to a report by Nation, the officer was behind investigations into the death of former Embakasi Member of Parliament, Mugabe Were in 2008.

The police are yet to find the thugs who ended Mr Matiri's life.
