Pastor Pius Muiru’s Mother Kidnapped and Killed in Kigumo

Police have launched investigations after the mother to popular televangelist and former presidential aspirant Pius Muiru was found dead yesterday.

Central Regional police boss Larry Kieng ' on Thursday confirmed that Mrs Grace Wangari Mwangi may have been kidnapped and subsequently killed.

According to neighbours, Bishop Muiru’s mother, who was in her late 70s, disappeared without a trace over the weekend.

The residents immediately launched a frantic search to locate her and made the chilling discovery after they located a freshly dug mound at her Karega farm in Kigumo Constituency.

Her body had been buried in a shallow grave which led to the immediate arrest of her farmhand who is helping police with investigations into the brutal murder.

Muiru, founder and leader of Maximum Miracle Ministries, is one of Kenya's most recognised televangelists in the country with a sizeable following on television and radio.

He unsuccessfully ran for the presidency in 2007 under the Kenya People's Party.
