Peter Kenneth Reveals Why He Did Not Support President Uhuru Kenyatta

Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Peter Kenneth has broken his silence as to why he did not support President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2013.

Speaking at Kameme Fm early today morning, the former Gatanga Member of Parliament said that he had nothing against President Kenyatta.

Kenneth, in fluent Gikuyu dialect, said that people should not judge him on his decision in 2013 as it was propelled by the politics of the day.

He added that he ran against Uhuru and the electorate made their choice and should not be used as a basis to cast aspersions on his relationship with the President.

The former MP noted that politics was never about enmity and political positions change in relation to the dynamics at play during that period.

"Uhuru Kenyatta ran against Kibaki in 2002 and later ended up as the deputy Prime Minister in Kibaki's government, I ran in 2013 and the contest was decided by the people, " Kenneth explained.

Kenneth highlighted that former President Mwai Kibaki also ran against former President Daniel arap Moi twice before seeking his help in 2007.

Kenneth’s remarks come amidst the barrage of attacks from Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko who is also eyeing to unseat the incumbent Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero.

Sonko has insisted that Kenneth was an opportunistic outsider seeking Nairobi’s top seat under Jubilee yet he did not back Uhuru’s presidency in 2013.
