PHOTOS: Chase Bank Customers Rush For Money

Chase Bank customers were Wednesday all smiles as they flocked various branches and ATMs to access their money three weeks after Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) placed the financial institution under receivership.

The bank and its employees were happy to welcome back their clients after the closure that greatly affected many customers.

“Chase is back, stronger than ever to offer you exceptional services to enable you to keep chasing your dreams,” Chase Bank tweeted.

The Bank made sure it put its best foot forward by promptly assisting clients who had experienced problems accessing their funds using the online banking platform, Mfukoni.

Chase Bank further assured its clients of stability highlighting: "You do not need to withdraw your money because we are now more stable & stronger than before".

The bank was re-opened after CBK announced that the Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) had taken over the management of the troubled institution.

Chase Bank came under scrutiny by the regulator after it released different reports showing two sets of financial statements within a span of six days.

The first set had understated insider loans to staff and directors by a total amount of Sh8 Billion.

The second report, however, showed that money advanced to directors, shareholders, associates and employees of the bank stood at Sh13.62 Billion in 2015, contrary to the Sh5.72 Billion reported on March 31.

The bank's Chairman Zafrullah Khan and group Managing Director Duncan Kabui stepped aside following concerns over the credibility of the bank’s financial health.
