PNU Kicks Jubilee Party Secretariat Out of Nairobi Offices in Kangemi

The Jubilee Party suffered an embarrassment after its secretariat was kicked out of their Nairobi branch offices located in a quarter-acre piece of land along Waiyaki Way, near Kangemi.

Jubilee had been embroiled in an ownership tussle with the Party of National Unity (PNU) which has now taken over the offices.

Nairobi gubernatorial hopeful Peter Kenneth is said to have rescued the displaced officials by letting the use his offices.

“Peter Kenneth had an existing, well-equipped and running office, so he simply told them to transfer their documents, and staff to his premise. Jubilee has its offices in Pangani and the building in Kangemi has always been PNU headquarters,” a source privy to the matter disclosed.

The dispute between the Jubilee and PNU party had escalated as both parties had laid claim to the old offices in Kangemi.

PNU leader Peter Munya led supporters in repainting the building in the Party's blue colour.

“For the past one year, PNU has been asking Jubilee to move out, but they have been adamant since they inherited the office from The National Alliance (TNA) party,” the source added.

Head of the Jubilee secretariat Raphael Tuju pointed out that the trustees would decide which party owns the building.

Jubilee Party Secretary-General Veronicah Maina, however, dismissed PNU’s claim and insisted that the Kangemi office belongs to them.

PNU’s Nairobi youth wing chairman Fredrick Kimathi last week indicated that Jubilee was planning to grab the building and that they forcibly evicted them late last year.

He added that the offices in the said land are meant to host the PNU headquarters but Jubilee had painted them with their colours illegally.

“Jubilee wants to grab our land and take over our offices. We will not allow that to happen under our watch,” stressed Mr Kimathi.
