Police Issue Order on GK Vehicles

The Kenya National Police has issued strict orders requiring all Government officials using government vehicles, to allow for scrutiny at security points for the sake of national security.

Speaking during a security address on Friday, Police Spokesperson Charles Owino directed all GK and parastatal vehicles to undergo thorough searches at all entries including offices, buildings and malls.

Owino further told the officers and managers to comply with the regulations.

“All senior Government officials, Parastatal heads, Managers, top businessmen are asked to cooperate with security agents including Private Security guards,” the notice read in part.

He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious cases and activities.

The stern directive comes hours after reports emerged of an ambush on an AMISOM base in Somalia by the extremist group al shabaab, causing fierce gnufire exchange between the militia group and Kenya Defence Forces.

KDF is yet to confirm casualties on either side even as other reports indicate that dozens of soldiers could have been killed in the Friday morning attack.
