Politician's Children Fight Over Sh2 Billion

Three daughters and son of a former politician are locked in a court battle over property estimated to be worth Sh2 Billion.

The children of Eldoret political heavyweight the late Ezekiel Barng'etuny took to the High Court after a disagreement arose concerning that sharing of their father's property.

According to Doreen Kogo, Ogla Missoi, Joyce Chumba, their brother only identified as Erick, had taken sole authority over the assets and had denied them any opportunity to benefit from their father's wealth.

Some of the contested properties are; a vast agricultural land and commercial buildings, including the multi-storey Barng'etuny Plaza in Eldoret.

The plaintiffs sued their sibling asking for equal distribution of the wealth, arguing that they were legally entitled in the apportionment of family property.

Mr Erick has also been accused of ejecting a daughter-in-law to the deceased and her three children from her matrimonial home, thus denying them a right to the inheritance.

Owing to the row, the court has now barred any transactions involving the stated assets and also frozen all accounts of Barng'etuny pending determination of the case between the two parties.
