Pumwani Maternity Hospital Admins Grilled By Senate Team Over Missing Twins

Pumwani Maternity hospital administrators on Thursday appeared before the Senate's Health Committee in Nairobi to explain the circumstances under which the bodies of two twins disappeared at the hospital.

The parents of the twins are accusing the hospital of switching their twin children with dead twins. DNA tests doen over a month ago revealed that the dead children were not related to the parents.

The administrators found it hard to explain the mix up, coming under criticism over the mishandling of two bodies that have been missing since January.

According to The Standard, Chief Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor told the committee that there were administrative gaps made by the hospital before the bodies were submitted for a postmortem at the City Mortuary.

The senate team now wants to know where the genuine twins are and where the hospital got the bodies of the dead ones that were submitted for postmortem.
