Raila Attacks Duale Over Claims of Receiving "Salary" From Governors

Opposition leader Raila Odinga on Thursday launched a scathing attack on Majority leader Aden Duale for alleging that he receives a monthly salary from Governor's leading CORD affiliated Counties.

Speaking during a press briefing at his Capitol Hill offices, Mr Odinga rubbished the claims as nonsense noting that he would not waste his time responding to foolish allegations.

"Mimi sio rika ya Hon Aden Duale. Siwezi kujibu hayo maneno yake ya upuzi na ujinga mtupu. ( I am not Aden Duale's age mate. I will not answer his foolish statement. His statement is pure idiocy)," Odinga said.

The Opposition chief added that he was not at the same level as Duale, therefore, he would leave his colleagues (MPs) to respond to the outrageous claims.

On Wednesday, the Majority Leader accused the former Prime Minister of receiving millions from governors dubbing him a "ghost worker" in all CORD counties.

Speaking at Parliament buildings, Duale claimed that the billions of shillings lost in CORD counties have also been used to cater for Odinga's accommodation and flights during his campaign rallies.

"Raila receives monthly stipends from all county governments under CORD. They pay for his rallies, accommodation and flights. We want Raila to come out and refund the millions given to him as stipends.

“We have evidence of how he (Raila) has been a ghost worker in all the CORD counties for the last three years. Let him respond and we will table the evidence,” the Garissa township MP stated.

Duale castigated Odinga leader for apparent doublespeak on matters corruption, saying his combative attributes when speaking against corruption in government is never replicated when “CORDed counties” are implicated in graft.
