A family in Kangaru, Muranga County is struggling to come to terms with the death of their son after his body was found inside a borehole not too far from their home.
23 year old Joseph Maina was reported missing on Friday last week and after days of searching, his family and friends came upon his body in the borehole.
His family members, who are still reeling from the shock of losing their loved one said he had struggled with alcohol and drug abuse before the alleged suicide.
K24 reports that the incident isn’t the first to occur in the region, with residents blaming the access of drugs and alcohol by youth in the area on the many cases of suicide.
They are calling on the county government to step up its fight against alcohol and drug abuse.
