Eight students at a school in Kakamega County have found themselves on the wrong side of the law after being accused of assaulting their colleague.
The prefects at Ingotse Boys High school were arraigned before Kakamega Senior Principal Magistrate Samuel Wahome and charged with causing bodily harm to a fellow student.
The eight are said to have attacked a form two student accusing him of being a homosexual and a member of Illuminati - a secret society linked to satanic beliefs with the believers' aiming at conspiring to gain control over world affairs including power and earthly riches.
During a mention of the case, the court heard that the victim had been hospitalised therefore the school failed to settle the matter administratively.
“The time-frame given was not enough given that the complainant was in hospital nursing injuries. He has just been discharged and we feel it’s time we talk to him and his parents,” a lawyer of the eight was quoted by the Star.
Magistrate Wahome directed that the issued be settled out of court with the two parties being ordered to present their agreement to the court by May 16.
Students have previously been arraigned in court after being involved in several instances of unlawful activities. In March, four students were arrested after being caught with a dead body.

The students were, however, freed by a Narok court after police officers investigating the case failed to submit substantial evidence to support the accusations.
