State House Official Attacked Over Stadium Photo

Director of Digital Communication in the Office of the President, Dennis Itumbi, was caught between a rock and a hard place when a photo he posted online in December 2013 showing a revamped City Stadium was unearthed.

The photo which showed a design of a stunning sporting arena indicated 'Nairobi City Stadium', sparked reactions from Kenyans on twitter who demanded an explanation on why the promise made two years ago was not implemented.

The pledge by the Jubilee Alliance Party to build five stadia in Kenya, was one of the major selling points during the campaigns but signs of the execution are yet to be seen.

Many Kenyans termed it as a “stillbirth joke” and “artistic graphics” aimed to dupe Kenyans through “good public relations (PR)” by the Jubilee Government.

Mr Itumbi, however, reacted to the insinuations and said it was a vision just like others and would be implemented.

“The Vision imagined. Dreams illustrated. Together with that City Stadium image I tweeted 9 images of other places table all,” read his tweet.

Here are some of the tweets:

Government promised Kenyans new stadia in major counties. Well past mid term, that promise became like the free laptop 'project'. @OleItumbi
