[Video]: Would You Eat Rat Meat? This Is How Some Kenyans Prepare It

To most Kenyans, the idea of rats as food would disgust them.

In Ganze, Kilifi County, however, residents consider them a delicacy.

Men hunt the rodents that are usually holed up in farms before they are roasted on open fire.

After their body fur is burned off, they are cleaned before they are roasted some more.

The residents have come up with ingenious ways of trapping the rodents.

Their meat is so popular, some are making money from selling them.

Some residents have argued that should unsuspecting individuals be served the meat, they would think that it is roasted meat from a cow or goat.

Some muslim residents in the area however shy from the meat, saying it goes against their religious beliefs.

The meat is popularly eaten with ugali.

Here is a video by KTN on the story.
