Vihiga School Registers 300 Straight 'A's

A school in Vihiga County has defied the odds by registering the highest number of students scoring grade A in the 2015 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination after their results were canceled the previous year.

Chavakali High School broke the country's record, registering 300 'A' plains in the national exams whose outcome was released on Thursday, after the cancellation of results for more than 300 candidates in 2014.

The Boys school had registered a total of 630 students, with 313 candidates whose results were nullified in 2014, repeating in last year's evaluation.

The students put up an exemplary performance in Biology where 299 of them scored grade A, 179 A- (minus) while in Chemistry the top scores were 78 'A's and 147 A- .

While releasing the results, Cabinet Secretary for Education Fred Matiang'i, revealed that the 2015 KCSE examination was marred by high irregularities, indicating a 70% increase in cheating compared to the previous year.

Exam irregularities were detected in nearly all the counties leaving only Isiolo with no case of cheating.
