Residents of Maraba estate in Kakamega County were shocked to find the body of a woman dumped at the estate.
The woman's body had been mutilated and was missing several body parts.
Confirming the incident to The Standard, Kakamega OCPD Richard Ng’etich said the body was without private parts, ears, eyes and tongue.
He said the woman has not yet been identified and the motive of the killing still unknown.
Residents are scared that the murder could have been a ritual killing.
They complained of lack of security in the area.
The locals called on the County Government to send more security officers to the area.
The police on the other hand pleaded with anyone with information about the murder to report it to the police station.
The body was taken to Kakamega County Hospital mortuary.
