MP Murder Suspects Thrown Back to Jail

Seven suspects incriminated in the murder of the late Kabete MP, George Muchai will continue being held in police custody until 2016.

The suspected murderers were on Tuesday denied bail after the prosecution successfully challenged an appeal they had filed at the High Court.

The prosecution argued that the seven suspects knew the witnesses in the case and even lived in the same neighbourhood them, therefore the accused persons posed danger if they were released.

The suspects identified as Erick Isabwa alias chairman, Raphael Gathii alias Kim, Mustapha Anyonyi alias Musto, Stephen Lipapo alias Chokore, Jane Kamau alias Shiro, Margaret Wachuiri and Simon Gichamba are also accused of killing Muchai's driver Stephen Wambugu and bodyguards Samuel Kalikia and Samuel Matanta.

The seven were also implicated in a robbery with violence incident against three other persons, the night before attacking the Kabete MP on Kenyatta Avenue-Uhuru Highway roundabout.

They however, denied robbing Michael Gituto of a vehicle and property worth Sh416,000; Gladys Waithera of her car and valuables worth Sh600,000 and Irene Wambui of property worth Sh15,000.

Judge Roseline Korir announced that the case would be ruled on January 28, 2016.

Muchai was shot dead on February 17, 2015 after the gang sprayed bullets on his vehicle as he headed home.
